Hi everyone.
The perforated seats of my truck are so clogged heating won’t feel any more. Same with cooling. Can you advise the best way to clean them?
This is one reason why I preferred cloth over the leather seats… all those perforations will clog up so easily. Lint from your clothes is enough. And they have to be cleaned often to keep them opened up. We had a Pathfinder Platinum with these features and found that if we didn’t really stay on top of cleaning the seats, those perforations would clog up and then it took a little effort to actually clean them out. Just rubbing a cloth over the top doesn’t exactly pull the dirt out of the perforations… a soft brush is the best way. For the heating the perforations don’t need to be opened, but for the cooled ventilation they do.
Vacuum with a medium soft brush attachment works great for perforated seats. I have 3 cars in the household w/ these seats. A detail brush w/ the vacuum close by also helps the stubborn spots. I suppose a toothpick if it's really bad but I've never had to use that. That being said I don't let any of my cars get that dirty generally.
The heated seat function doesn't rely on the perforations to operate, if that function isn't working then something else is wrong.
Are we sure about that? I can hear the fan turn on when both cooled and heated seats are turned on. It doesn't feel like an element in terms of how it heats either but I may be wrong.
I don't hear anything when my heated seats come on. Only when the cooling feature is on do I hear anything.
I have the perforated seats. My perforations are nice and clear at 38,000 miles. I use the heavy duty vacuum at the car wash on my seats. That might help clear the pores. I do use a leather cleaner and leather conditioner. If anyone was going to get clogs in the seats, it would be me with the conditioner. I don't spare the conditioner.

Yes, heated seats is just heating elements under the cover, no air blows with them.

I rarely use it but I'm pretty sure I hear some sort of fan sound too. Now this has me curious, I'll have to try next time I drive the truck.
there is a fan, the seats have a blower in the seat back and a blower in the seat cushion. this blower it plumbed to a heating element that gets hot and is pumped through the seat. it looks like this. as for your perforation being clogged, i use a tooth pick to clean mine.

There is zero fan with my heat. None, nada, zilch.

have you replaced one of these and operated it before putting the seat back together? I have 1 in my fusion and one in my explorer. my fans blow when the seat heat is on. theres no way that much heat is radiating through the seat without something to move the air. im getting ready to replace another one in my explorer this weekend. ill video it for you if you need proof.

The SD is not a Fusion or Exploder. It doesn't blow. Period.
