Getting ready to replace my factory lines. I’m leaning toward going oem style from riff raft. Are there any fittings I should replace while I’m in there? Any tips or pointers? Will be purchasing the disconnect tool from riff raff. Thanks
When I went to replace my 18 year old HPOP lines in 2018, I too selected the OEM style quick disconnect style from Riffraff. They were updated somewhere over years and since the OEM one lasted so long, I figured they were a good choice. In an effort to have an easy installation, I also bought new head and HPOP fittings for each hose. There are seals and clips in the fittings that could be an issue if they are disturbed. It was easy peasy to replace the fittings and hoses at the same time.
There are alternative listings with JIC style fittings from sources like CNC Fabrication and Riffraff that are very popular. I strive to stay in line with reliability, longevity and efficiency when considering ANYTHING for our 22 year old 7.3L. I have been and am very happy with the OEM style hoses with new fittings after 10's of thousands of mile towing our 5th wheel cross country.
I went with the JIC style ends over the factory connections. I also removed the drain back fittings just inside the HPOP where the lines connect which evens out the oil pressures like the cross over but without the 2 extra oil leak potentials...
I used the JIC hoses from CNC fab. I love them. I like the idea of the stock disconnect to though. It's personal preference. I feel the stock quick 'connect' is not so quick disconnect in my experience. I made a tool for removing them though. Maybe that's why. I feel the factory quick disconnect is just another possible leak and more o-rings to replace But, they have last 20 years for many people leak free. Not sure how old mine were when they blew and they blew because the previous owner had the hoses installed rubbing each other which is where it blew. I do quite like the OEM style hoses. There are many good options but, I really like the CNC hoses. Whatever you go with, I expect you'll be happy with it
