I have a 2004 expedition with a 5.4 L I'm having a problem they just started today and left me stranded. I'm hoping I can get some info to find out what to look at. I started the truck up and it started to run rough and the throttle was dead pedal. It didn't raise the RPM whatsoever. So I called a friend and he said it could be your fuel pump or fuel system. The dead pedal makes me skeptical like it's an electrical issue some sort of a sensor or whatever. I had my TPS replaced months ago so I'm thinking that's probably still good. So, he suggested there's some sort of a valve on the fuel rail. I looked and there's a vacuum operated valve on the fuel rail on the driver's side on the fuel rail on the driver side. He said sometimes those stick. And that when they stick the fuel is just getting returned to the tank instead of going to the engine. I'm trying to identify what this part is so I can go and get it and try to replace it. I'm going to attach an image of what it is it looks like a miniature PCV valve it's about an inch and a half in diameter and maybe 2 in in height right on top of the fuel rail. Could anybody from my picture let me know what this part is so I know what to call it when I try to get one or if you can give me any other tips as to what my problem can be? Once I started the first time it kind of sputtered and there was no throttle response at all. Then I shut down the truck and tried to restart and it wouldn't even fire. I disconnected the battery let it sit for about 10 minutes reconnected and still no start. Can anybody help me out here?
That's a Fuel Pressure Regulator. You should check your fuel pressure with a tester. The schrader valve is in the same area but on the opposite side (passenger side) of the fuel rail. Too bad you unplugged your battery because you erased any codes you may have had.

I thought the schrader test valve port was deleted in 2004+ when the pressure regulators were added.

I stand corrected! I didn't know about the deletion and assumed it was the same. My '03 has the schrader, and the FPR/damper on the same rail. My 2000 had the setup as I originally described.
