I am concerned because I've had poor luck in the past. The plastic pins break, the door panel pin mounts break, etc. Passenger side is now screwed on, driver side remains and I'd like to win on this one.
I've had success by using a little lube on pins and holes. Make sure everything is nice and warm. Summer heat would be best. Plastic doesn't like the cold. Get all the pins lined up with the holes.
Like soapy water? I can heat the pins in hot water...
Panel maybe doesn't matter? It's in the 60s here and sunny.
How to strike the panel? wood block, dead blow hammer?
Light pressure with hand over the area the clip is. Maybe a slight tap with palm of your hand. It does not to take much to get them into place. Slow and steady pressure. New clips are cheap and available at auto parts stores.
Tiny dab of grease spray silicone or soap would be fine. Skip the water. Grease would be nice to assist in future removal. Thin film applied by finger or Q-tip would be plenty

Thanks for the advise, guys. I got my wife to help align pins with door holes and I was shocked at how well it went on. With a bit of grease, it went straight on.
