You only get fancy seats and painted bumpers the way I look at it. The fact that you can't get 2 tone in the Lariats will be a deal breaker for some though.
I don’t know… I never even looked at a Lariat… but I guess one thing you will be getting is the King Ranch name. I’d say it’s kind of like the “FX4” package… most folks don’t have a clue what it actually is… but they know the name!
Until Job2 2023 they are basically the same truck, if they even make the KR till then.
I went from a tan interior with platinum white exterior paint f150 lariat ultimate to a platinum f250 and everyone liked the lariat ultimate better. The lariat doesn’t have massaging seats or special badging.
I generally buy lariat ultimate but to get adaptive steering i went with king ranch. I had a 2012 king ranch but wasnt loaded. This one is has the ultimate package. I went with the chrome package also cause i think painted bumpers are fugly. That said the massage seats and auto side steps are probably something i will stick with in the future (get new truck every couple years).
the leather quality and color are just meh. Its better than black though. Not sure of price difference but there isn’t a whole lot of difference than the lariat ultimate, just the seats and step.
My Black King Ranch 450 was probably my favorite of all my trucks. This time I wanted a Silver truck and couldn't get King Ranch in that configuration, so I ordered Lariat Ultimate optioned the same, minus the Massaging Seats. In 17' I had a 350 Platinum, in Platinum White, it was beautiful, but it seemed after every trip, I came home with more paint chips on the Ft Bumper. At about 30,000 miles I paid $770 to have it repainted. Thats too much for me to continue on a routine basis. So, Lariat Ultimate with the Tremor Pkg it is ..
King Ranch you will be getting better seats with massage feature (assuming they don’t run out and have to give $300 credit for no massage)….. and don’t forget the Tailgate down camera that is not available in Lariat… I would have liked the tailgate down camera but KR not available in 6 seats so I ordered Lariat
I don't think the message seats are available anymore - on any level.
The KRU comes with Heads Up Display and 2KW Power-Pro.
I dunno about that $8,000 difference - if I look at Ford's build a truck web site for an F-350, CC, LB, SRW the base price of a Lariat is 64,990 and the KR starts at 77,220. The KRU already has most of the add on features you would need to add to the the Lariat to get close the KRU, like the Ultimate pkg - $5,075, which would bring the Lariat up to $70,065 and more in line with the $8K difference.
So.... KR 'leather' seats, heads-up display, and 2k Power Pro may be the differentiation.
Interesting that the KRU only comes in white, red, black or blue.
$8K difference is a lot and more than enough to sway most buyers to a Lariat. The Lariat is simply a better value.
For 2022, I went from Lariat to Platinum mostly due to the quality of leather. The leather holds up much better in the KR and Platinum trims when compared to the Lariat seats.
That said, I ordered a 2023 Lariat. I don’t need max recline seats, I wanted the sport package and being honest, I couldn’t justify the price jump to the higher trims. I figure if I keep my 2023 long enough, I’ll throw in some Katzkin’s if the leather doesn’t hold up over time.
The Lariat Ultimate packages have greatly changed from 2022 to 2023.
I got it on my 2022, because I wanted the Power Tilt/Telescope steering wheel with memory. Now that is included with Lariat.
The Ultimate package on the 2023 includes the Tow Technology (Pro Trailer Back up assist) and some other technology stuff I wasn't interested in. So I ordered my 23 with Tow Technology, tailgate step, and I might add power running boards. But still not worth the entire Ultimate package, at least not for me.
