Front hub issues

Good Day All, I have to fix my front axle issues and expect to start tear down soon . Just hoping to gather some Intel from the group . Symptoms are as follows , NO issue when in 2x , Hub locked or free ( manual set ), NO issue in 4x Free hub .
only issue is 4x Hub locked ,

Either a hub or axle universal , Thoughts please,thanks
2011 super duty ,crew cab ,long box,6"lift

Sounds like the hubs might not be the issue, though it's hard to say from your post. You only have an issue with the hubs locked in 4x? What IS the issue you are chasing?

The issue is grinding noise on driver side and vibration, and seems to be resistance. Faster = more of the above , thanks only in 4x when hub manually locked

If you feel it more on one side, you can try swapping the hubs real quick and see if the noise changes first. If no change then might need to look deeper (axle u-joints). I feel like the locking hubs are more prone to failure however...

How is the front drive line from the transfer case? The double cardan can get really noisy if its loose and worn out. Will produce that grinding, clanking noise when in 4WD.

I had a grinding once and it was the hub locks. They weren't engaging but were trying to and grinding splines. I'd jack it up off the ground and see if the hub locks are actually engaging.
