Got my parts in, lenses, bulbs, ceramic pigtails.... but one relag looks like someone stomped it... so i have to replace that, obviously. Hopefully, have brighter, properly aimed headlamps by the end of this weekend.
Point of clarity. Relay 1 is triggered by power on, for low beams, and relay 2 is triggered by the high beam selection. So each relay runs both bulbs, just for the different tasks, correct?
Since im going with these 70 amp relays.... i assume i have the capacity to add some extra lights. Considering a fog lamp for low beams, and a couple long range focused lights for high beams.
Thinking to let them power through the relay, but put in cut off toggles in the cab so i can turn the extra lighting off, appropriate to the situation. Opinions welcome. Light recomendations sought.
You may want to run a third relay for the auxiliary lights. Better to switch a relay than the full current going to the bulbs.
i guess that would be two more relays, one for the fog light, and one for the long reach. Though i suppose i could run the trigger to them with the same switch. Since power conditions would be different entirely.

In this case I would probably trigger these additional relays by the grounds with 1 switch to activate the aux lights. The hot side trigger coming from either the switched or output of your other main relays.

This requires the switch to handle the full amperage of the circuit. Specifically what we avoid with relays....
First, determine if you ‘need’ more light after the mods.
If you want more light, build a duplicate harness and use the other factory headlight pigtail to trigger the relays for fogs and driving lights.
I prefer to use 3-position switches (on-off-on) for these. This gives you the ability to leave them OFF, ON or ON-with hi/lo beams.

Fair enough. I figure im more likely to add fog lights, than long range, and that, mostly due to wanting the lower placement, more than just needing more light..
