I bought the headlight relay upgrade kit from the bronco graveyard last fall.
Held off installing it due to weather and time and just got around to it this week.
It appears one relay is bad, I haven't swapped them out to verify yet but I'd say it's most likely that. (headlights work on low, don't on high)
Is their a bosch equivalent to this shori relay they used in their kit?
Little bit of searching and the best I can find is either another shori relay or a BWD relay. Anyone know of any other relays that would drop in?
My searching basically came up with cut the harness and wire it up for the standard automotive relays. Kind of hate to do that with it being brand new..
It's possible, I'm going out in a bit to swap relays to verify.
I'd still like to source different ones though for backups in the event I do need to replace them down the road.
I'll update if the relay isn't the problem.
Confirmed the relay is bad out of the box.
I swapped them a couple of times and same thing, the one relay will work on the high side or low side but the other won't work on either.
Time to reach out to bronco graveyard and see what they have to say.
I know you have had the kit for a bit but maybe they can send a new relay or tell you where to get another?

I'm going do both, they actually sell replacements for $6 a pc so you can see why it didn't last.
I'm going to buy several for backups and maybe they will warranty the bad one? We will see..
Eventually I'm going to have to cut this and splice in new connector so I can go with a made in germany one.
I did not look that close at mine if I can get replacements or not?
I got mine years ago for a different project and have not gotten that far yet and why I used them on the truck.
I also have driving / fog lights in the bumper that uses relays and I do know they are pretty small so finding them could be fun but its not like I need them like head lights LOL
Maybe I should go to JBGY and see what the relays look like?

I never even looked at the relays when I bought my kit, I just wanted a plug and play setup.
In reading posts about ppl upgrading, I never really saw anyone talk about the relays in the kits, so I never thought about it.
I assumed they were your standard run of the mill relay, well this is what happens when you assume...
I'm debating about just cutting them out now, I really hate to do it to a brand new harness and one reason why I went with this kit..
I can waterproof it, so that isn't the concern. But the more I think about this, why spend the money on questionable relays when I should do it right the first time..
I just don't know if I need to source a spst or if a spdt will work, I don't know enough about relays but I have a feeling I will soon..
That is true on the trust and doing it right.
My kit was used by my son on his Jeep YJ for a few years till he went HID and it works just fine in my truck.

When I did my headlight relays my highs didn’t work either. Found that one of the wires in the factory headlight plug was in bad shape. Ended up cutting the plugs out and wiring the harness directly to the factory headlight wires. Didn’t see myself ever going back so I did away with the plugs. That fixed the problem I had.

I remember a long time ago someone bought the headlight relay kit from LMCTruck and commented that it took a oddball relay.
SPST or SPDT, either one would work. One is a 4 terminal and the other is a 5 terminal. So long as the plug you buy for the relay will plug in. You just won't use the one terminal on the SPDT relay.
Absolutely right Franklin2
To give an idea on how cheap the relays are in the LMC/bronco kit since they both are the same and probably all the headlight upgrade kits at that..
I found a place where you can buy the relay for a dollar and change. + shipping. So I bought 10 lol and when I get time I'll head out to a junkyard and scavenge something.

That was me. I purchased a spare and have never needed it.
bronco graveyard warrantied the relay, shipped it out immediately, received today. Plugged it in and works as intended.
Definitely impressed, wasn't expecting much and service was A1!
That's great to hear!
The oddball relay does have a common number that you can use at the local parts stores, but I forget what it is. Maybe you can re-post it here too 1986F150?
Never hurts to have a spare of anything that's oddball on our trucks these days!
Glad yours is up and running dustyroad.
