was wanting to know if i can fit a 285 75 16 tire on my 2000 ext cab 4x4 f-150 without lifting. and is there an easy way of leveling the front with the rear.
There has been many posts on whether that tire will fit without rubbing on a stock 4x4 f150 and i have not been able to find a difinative answer. i think that they will fit. I believe there is someone who has 285s here but i dont know if he has a lift or not. I hope he will respond i forget his name though.
as for leveling the truck, crank the torsion bars up in the front, that is what i did. just make sure you do each side equally.
the torsion bars replace the springs in the 97-2003 4x4 F-150s. They attach to the lower control arms to the frame. Follow the parallel bar from the lower control arm to the part of the frame. At the frame they attach to a cross brace at the frame. There you will find a bolt at the end of the control arm that is vertical there is one for each torsion bar. If you tighten them clockwise you will raise the truck.
Do each side equally, or the truck will tilt to passenger or driversside. As for the right height it is up to you. You will have to do allittle at a time untill the truck is at the height you want.
P.S. Mine had an 18mm bolt and i needed a 1/2inch drive wrench to turn them. you may need something with a large bar. I hope that helps you out.
