Crank damper/Harmonic balancer

Crank damper/Harmonic balancer
I am installing a Melling lpop and a new balancer. I see its required to put ford style sealant on the keyway. How do you do that? Do seat the balancer and then put the sealant on? I'm going to rent a balancer installer tool from my local parts store. I noticed there was sealant on my washer and bolt when I took it off. Getting close to putting her back.
