Newbie Questions ! ( Me )
So this is my first post so excuse me for any stupid questions. I have a 1997 F-350 Crew SRW Long Bed 4x4 manual transmission that is mostly stock. I have a Banks down pipe and a straight exhaust and a K&N air filter and Swamps injectors that are just above stock parameters I'm currently at 300K and mostly use my truck for hauling my 37 foot Toy Hauler on vacations. I would like to know what mods I need to do to get my EGTs down and increase my towing capacity considering my mileage . Is it too late for a Banks Power Pack and if so what do I need to do to my engine to do it ?
Thanks for your learned information and opinions !

Cleatus , I will look into a charge air cooler.97-psd my EGTs only climb when towing and pulling a grade , I have a Banks pyrometer and was told by my mechanic to keep it under 1250f and do so religiously, I have no tuner and the original injectors were replaced at 240,000 miles with Swamps injectors that compare to factory with a little more capacity so I guess a tuner would be my next purchase. I am thinking of replacing the original radiator with a Mishimoto unit and a trans cooler also mine has a lot of fin damage. I will probably stick with Banks and would like to install an inter-cooler, I just do not know if at my high miles if it is a wise move without addressing wear and tear at 300,000 plus miles and what parts need attention.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Stock injectors and tuning can top out EGT if the engine isn't run at its 2600+RPM power rating speed. I wouldn't worry at all about 300K if the engine is firing on all cylinders and doesn't have too much crankcase pressure or oil consumption issues. I have 250/200% in a 290K-mile one, 160/100% in one with 315K, and 140/80% splits in one that's got 266K.
Just for real-world comparison, I have a 1995 that has stock injectors and stock-ish tuning (altered idle parameters and transmission shifting characteristics) and would easily hit 1200 before downshifting when towing 6-7000 lbs. Simply installing an early 99 turbocharger (.84 A/R turbine), intake "y", and intercooler keeps me from ever exceeding 1050 degrees on identical tuning. It's been time to "turn up the wick" for a few years but I'm too lazy to do it.

What gear ratio and tire size are on your truck?
A stock platform turbo never will control egt on those injectors. Cac will help some as a bandaid but exh flow is what these stock turbo platforms lack.

Stock tire size and a 4 speed OD stick trans, not sure of gear ratio without checking paper work. I will go to a 4" exhaust when I finalize my modifications package from Banks.

You can do better on ic from cx, Carson staffer and others and get more efficient core for less money. But do you.
Banks never even makes the bottom of any mod list in my book..
If you have 3.55 gears then you are fighting an uphill battle.
