Where have you been hiding? These things have been happening to many orders for quite a while now, ford doesn't have the items available so they leave them off or don't build the truck at all.
Cancel the order, the dealer will be fine with it because he will be able to easily sell the truck to someone else.
Then order a new 2023 and wait another year and see if you get the truck you want then.
This is nothing new, and yes, it is a sucky deal.
Ford is inept.
I ordered a 2022 F350 Lariat Ultimate on 12/7/21, it got cancelled by Ford, then reordered 3/9/22, received order confirmation same day both times. Order had 5th wheel prep.
Since then I've only received emails from Ford, apologizing for parts shortage issues, but have seen many, many people post on this forum orders placed months and months AFTER I placed my order (either one), that were nearly identical to mine or KR, Platinum, Limited, with 5th wheel prep, that were scheduled, built and delivered.
Will not be ordering a 2023 from a company that is so screwed up.
I hate my adaptive steering in my 2019. Miss the steering in my previous f350's. I wonder if they put it as standard now and just don't mention it? I hope they didn't can't stand it.
I have it on my 2019 and like it, not a single negative thing to say about. Seamless. I have read the gripes you have with the steering on your truck, and that you blame AS. I've given my opinion on that in severral other threads.... Anyway, I have not seen any reference to it at all on the 2023, so I think it's safe to assume it's gone. Being that it's a marketable feature, one that is available on other manufacturers vehicles, I believe Ford would have made note of it if it were standard or an option. However, that doesn't mean that a 23 will steer like your previous 350's.
I hate to bring bad news, but you can’t even order adaptive steering on a 23 it’s completely been deleted.
side note, I went from a 2019 with adaptive steering to a 22 without. I notice no difference in the truck or turning into to parking spots etc. you’re not missing anything
See what the dealer will do for you, if you're a loyal customer maybe they'll help with the costs of the fifth wheel but I wouldn't count on it. If they do then give it a test drive and see what you think without AS. I wouldn't count on the dealer eating much as they know they will make more than whatever price agreed upon within a day to the next Joe that walks into the door for the only NEW SD truck within 100 miles of him.

It is very frustrating that Ford just drops options like that and then two months later makes it available again. I would rather just wait until it is available.

I fully understand your frustration. The giant problem facing Ford, although they would love to make you anything that you want, because they make a fortune off of a Super Duty, they just can't get the parts. It's everybody, not just ford.

I had that adaptive steering as standard equiptment on my 2020 F250 Platinum and I didn`t like it either and when I ordered the new 2022 Platinum it was a 1,000 option so I opted not to order it on the new truck I was glad it was optional because I prefer the truck without it.

Based on seeing how many people just on this forum, ordered and received their 2022 MY SDs, AFTER I placed my order, I find that VERY hard to believe. If it were and issue of parts availability only, then people who placed their orders AFTER me, would still be waiting also, rather than driving their '22s already.

Not a true assumption unfortunately, search the forum or google and you'll see there's really no rhyme or reason why Truck A was built as ordered but truck B right behind it was missing parts A, B, and C. then truck C was the same truck as truck B and built as ordered.
