F450 build time!

I ordered an f450 lariat, rapid red, over stone grey. Ordered December 8th. Just got an email yesterday from Chapman stating that all f450 builds could take 40+ weeks, and be changed to a 2023. They recommended we change to an f350 dually, due to wheel shortage, and 5th wheel prep shortage. I kept the f450 order but Ordered the same truck in an f350 srw.

I ordered an F450 KRU on December 30th and have not heard anything about orders being converted to 2023, FWIW. My dealership did say expect it could take 6 months though.

My fleet rep says if your order is converted to a '23 your price will increase whatever the invoice price difference is from the '22. which makes sense , but if the packages change I'm sure you'd be on the hook for anything like that as well. probably not a big deal to you but something to consider.

Ordering now unless your luck is like mine it's unlikely it will come to that but the window to order and receive a '22 is narrowing no doubt.

Hmmm…. That’s two very different trucks…. The f450 vs the SRW F350…. Why not the DRW 350?

Hummm. I ordered a F450 from Chapman on 1/8 at 4% below invoice. They said to expect at least 6 months before being built. If it rolls longer into 2023 model year I’m ok with that.

I also have a 2022 F350 CCSB Platinum on order from local Florida dealer with X-plan since 12/8/21 and still get to keep my 2020 F-350 until new truck arrives.

Best case , The way I see this happening is the 350 arrives maybe April or May and I trade my 2020 350 in on it. Then if the 450 arrives is September or later I’ll sell or trade the 2022 350 and get the 450. Hopefully sell or trade my 2022 F-350 for more than I paid for it.

Worst case is neither new truck arrives in a timely manner and used prices fall, then I’ll just keep my 2020 F-350.

You got the same idea as me. I ordered the f350 srw, and will drive that till the f450 comes. Then sell the f350 for what I paid for it, and drive the f450. Reasons for the f350 srw, is I don't like the dually f350, as it does not look beefy like the f450. I can technically get by with an srw but barely.

Kameron,

😀 Great minds think alike. 350 SRW barely has payload I need to tow my 5th wheel. 450 turning radius, beefier brakes etc that’s what I want.

Just stating the email I received, to others out there wanting to order a f450. Basically the likely hood of it taking longer then a f350, drw, or srw. If you want it asap, that that might be something to consider. You ordered back in agust your f450, and ford may have gotten alot more f450 orders in, etc. Since then. Who knows just thought I would try and help those that may want help.

The timing seems in line. It will take 7 months from order to delivery for your 450. That’s before announcement of commodity shortages for 5th wheel prep and 450 wheels.

If that was mine, I'd be hoping it gets delayed a few more weeks so you get the massaging seats!
