id love to go electric but am out of big for nds and now stuck finishing her off with ash tray and carpet change.

I have the fan and clutch from my '89 5.0L but don't know where you are located or how much it might cost to get it to you. If it would work, you can have it for shipping costs.

I’m near Seattle, 98367, but tomorrow I’m going to hit the yard and bring home some electric fans.

i believe the pattern is differentt because of the differences in how the clutch attaches, but could probably be driled to size

I think I’ll jaunt to the nearest wrecking yard with my wire cutters and my 10mm socket and gather up a dual electric fan setup.

may as well salvage what torque and HP I can while the radiator is out and I have loads of room to play.

302 and 351 fans do not work due to bolt hole differences for the fan to clutch. I checked this as the 302HO fan pulls more air and weighs less...but HO fan fits the 302/351 fine.

I just found left-handed blades with a brand new fan clutch and pick And Paul. The only thing I’m missing now is a fan shroud. All the ones I see listed are slightly offset but I think mine should be centered so I don’t know how to approach this from this point. I’m heading home now I’m gonna measure my radiator placement versus my fan clutch placement

They work just fine and it’s cheaper than going electric at this point after spending almost $3000 on my engine

I ordered a DEPO 330-55039-320 shroud for my 89 4.9 a while back, it was on
Amazon Amazon
but looks like they are out however https://www.ebay.com/itm/325197752871 and https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_8552716 may be some viable options for you. Good luck!

Is the water pump blades running the right way as well?
you could also re route the belt like the image below

I have it on the left side the one on the right is impossible because the belt going under the tensioner it’s the belt portion coming off the power steering.

and the stamped blades in these cast-iron pumps are designed to work regardless of the direction of spin or so I was told it’s only in the cast-iron veins that are directional.

first that will show up during the break in. Lol

My routing is just like the right side posted by Z31.

Your pump is off an earlier truck now that I look closer it seems. Mine has a far longer pipe up by the t-stat for the heater core.

I too had to purchase a shroud as mine was MIA when I bought the truck.

Since the water pump was new I decided to re use it. I can still Reach and tighten the heater hose so I’m happy with that for the time being

"new" What exactly is the pump for

Find a part number and verify.this is life or death if you werent using a temp gauge probably. But still. They are NOT meant to spin either direction, either.

youre belt is not running the right way for belt wrap. that water pump pulley is probably gonna slip
Also from the diagram compared to your engine, if I did my mental visualization right, youre about to spin the belt backwards the direction it is supposed to spin.

also, I advise using the right alternator (3g not a 2g) and using a bypass pulley for the air pump(so you dont have to get special belt lengths and can have the factory intended wrap

Okay aurora, the small illustration on the left is how I have it set up.
the water pump is turning counter clockwise because the water pump fan clutch threads are regular right handed threads.

the water pump clutch fan fan I pulled from the 91 4.9 at pick and pull was also counter clockwise, which is why I bought it because the blade I found in the back of this truck was opposite. Meaning turning counter it pushed air bro the radiator away from the engine.

this alternative r came mounted in the engine bay, why does it need to be a different alternator?

Can you tell me what the proper direction mine should be turning, and more importantly why it should be turning the opposite direction if that is your belief?

I need to know why very soon as I need to get the truck broken in and moved tomorrow morning as I have client cars to work on.
