Hey everybody! So a couple of weeks ago I was driving down the road and the wrench light came on and I immediately lost power. Almost like I ran out of gas. Limited power came back on and I was able to pull into a truck stop. The motor was running and sounded normal. So I turned the motor off waited a minute and turned it back on and I was good to go. The wrench light had disappeared. I took it to my local shop the next day and they checked it out and told me after electrical diagnostics were performed that the fuel pump control module was overheating and not communicating properly with the computer. Thereby causing the fuel pump to shut off momentarily while I was driving. I pay them for their diagnostic fee and went to Ford and picked up a new fuel pump control module which is about $60 now a days. It used to be cheaper. I put it on it is very easy to do and I have done it before. Now the truck runs fine and does not turn off while I drive. I had a module go out before but the symptoms were it would not start unless you tapped on it with a wrench or something. This time, it
overheat while I was driving causing the fuel pump to turn off and the wrench light to come on. But now that it has been replaced all is good. Back to normal. So my advice to you would be to replace it if you have high mileage like me. Before it goes bad. Speaking of high mileage here is a pic of my odometer from a couple of weeks ago.
