So this is the second time I have pulled the turbo off my truck once to rebuild it and put new pedestal o rings for peace of mind. Went relatively easy, sturggled on one bolt on reassembly cant remember which gave up and got it first try the next day.
THIS TIME though holy cow. I had the turbo removed in 20 mins or so easy peasy. But holy cow it took me probaboly collectivley 6-7 hours to get the back passenger side pedestal bolt started. Ended up having to pry the turbo up off the block and use a wrench. What baffes me even more I had to use a wrench 95% of seating that bolt, when I removed it pretty easy with a 10m universal socket and 6" or 8" extension. I for the life of me could not get that universal seated properly until that bolt was about a 3/32 above the pedestal on the reinstall. What did I do wrong??? I am completly wiped.
Every other bolt fell right into place no issue. Turbo was removed 4 times from the truck. I think Im going for the e99 turbo mod.
Now that, turbo is back in and plenums have been resealed its time for injectors tommorow retuning the following day, test drive thursday. Nevada Chukar Tournmanet Friday wish me luck.
That bolt is one of the the hardest ones. I found that after removing my ebpv actuator, i had a little more access to it. I had to cut an open end wrench in half to tighten the bolt. Also, i saw a trick on youtube, wrap a rubber band over the pedestal bolts keeping tension on them to keep them in place while setting the pedestal without the bolts dropping through and causing setting issues.
