Im so glad I bought a 22sd. The 23's arent my cup of tea and from the majority of comments I dont think they have been received well.
The ford design team must live in a locked dungeon. Do they not get some consumer input or are they so proud of themselves they know best. I hate the long fender vent badges, the chevy step in the box and bumpers, the grills among other things. I just dont see much to rave over in 2023.
Don't worry... Just wait till you see one and you'll be lovin it.
Yes, very happy I bought my 2022 when I did, hit the sweet spot for the 22's and got it in 10 weeks, since then it has been a crap shoot getting one.
And, as I said in another thread, Ford really screwed the pooch on the 23's, no way would I order one as they stand now.
They are overpriced and completely underwhelming, good job ford.
I read that only XL's will be available in 2 wheel drive. Everything on up will be 4 wheel drive standard.
I walked into a busy barber shop sat down and picked up the latest copy of Motor Trend Magazine (this was in 1979) I was totally disgusted when I saw the preview of the 1980 Ford pickups…to me nothing was more hideous !
By 1983 I was working a real job and my 66 Custom Cab was on its last legs…I bought 1983 F150 4x4 for the ungodly sum of 13089.00 dollars and those 188.00 dollar payments seemed to go on forever ! (48 months)
If I wanted to drive a new Ford I had deal with the changes…Glad I got my 22 though !
Ford hasn't made a nice looking 3/4 or 1 ton truck since the last ones in 1997!
The 2023's dont have a huge drastic change of look like the 2016-2017 styles, and I think they will grow on people, because that is what will be available.

Go on somewhere. The OBS are timeless, sure. But the 20-22s are generally very well liked. Forums, Facebook, YouTube, etc. You are probably the first person I've read saying the 20-22 trucks don't look good. I'd include the 99-07s as being well liked too.

To me all the newer trucks aren't that great in comparison to the styles of the past. They have no character now a days. I have an 18 and while it is a great truck and definitely one of the nicer modern trucks, they still dont have the styling of trucks like the obs. Im surrounded all the time by "car guys" and the consensus is always the same. The newer technology is always nice, but the styling is always "bah"
It just grows lots on people, because thats whats available.

I respect your opinion and appreciate you not getting offended by what I said. We all are entitled to our opinions. It could be worse, the new SD could look like a lightning.

Yes, I mean of course it is subjective! I think the one person did say it best with his example about the 83 truck looking terrible vs the dentside styles haha.
I want to know who was in charge of the wheels! I liked most all of the 22 wheel options. There is not one 23 wheel that I really like. The upper trims being the worst. The king ranch is AWFUL!
I agree most sales are fleet and business, but they are running those people away with the cost of an XL now too. Want a nice work with the 7.3 for towing? Too bad now you have to get a STX that almost costs as much as a Lariat! Those fleet buyers are quickly going to go else where.
Farley is only concerned with being like Tesla.
getting a 7.3 4wd is going to be a minimum 55k truck now, used to be you could get a 4wd 7.3 for under 45k if you are not too pampered and can row your own windows.
Farley seems to want to cater to the suburbanites who change their well optioned trucks every 1-2 years and shop by monthly payment. He’s not losing any sleep driving away value conscious traditional truck buyers.
soon as someone throws a carli kit, some innov8 forged wheels and 37's on, a lot of opinions will change...oh and 10k worth of baja designs
Meh… but if we’re changing things to make it look better… let’s go ahead and put new fender badges on (which may require new front fenders), swap the bed to one without the holes in the side that Ford calls steps, and put a new bumper on the back that is actually a bumper. Oh, and let’s not forget to swap out the front grill and headlights for something that looks decent too!

in my opinion the 17-22 body style was the closest you could get to OBS in modern times. the front is a bit big but the corners are all there and the nice continuous sides especially the long beds nailed it.
Can we all just take a moment to say a prayer for the manager at Ford who gave the final approval for this front end? Clearly he/she is going through some tough times and his/her mind is elsewhere.
Yep the 17 - 22's look good IMO. I think the 2020 - '22 Tremor is the best looking factory truck ever built.......but that's just my opinion. I also like the OBS; I restored a 1978 and I loved my 1996 PSD when I had it......still think that one was a great looking truck too. Can't say I was a fan of the '80 - '86 truck (anyone remember the "swiss cheese" frame in 1980?)
The 2023's aren't my favorite and I could certainly do without the bed steps but they still look better than a Chevy by a healthy margin and the rest of it will grow on me eventually.

probably worried about his/her job given the latest round of layoffs at Ford Blue
what the heck are those silver bits on the grill? Looks like someone took a staple gun to it to keep it from falling off.
where that blackout package version is staged for a publicity shot cracks me up. I can’t think of a single time I see a black truck at one of my job sites, everyone drives a white, red or silver one so people operating heavy machinery can see you even in lowlight or bad weather and when the truck is dirty. Maybe this is one of those MBAs trying to fit in with the “builders”. They even put it on a special elevated concrete pad so it doesn’t get dust on it backing it into photograph position near gravel. Lol.
