Are all super duty trucks manufactured in Cuautilan, Mexico??
I really want an F-250 super duty. Maybe it's just for the California market??
I make a distinction between Honda's and Toyota's that are actually built (assembled if you will) in this country and Ford's that are built in another country and then sold here.
The difference is, when they are assembled here, it hires an American working man/woman, raising a family etc etc. I don't care where the money ultimately goes, as long as it provides a job for an american.
Aftermarket parts, OME parts, that's another story.
Hell................if businesses could move grocery stores to mexico they would do it.
I was under the impression that all (or at least the vast majority of) Super Dutys were made at the Kentucky Truck plant - they are the reason that plant was built in the first place.
Although I am not happy that U.S. manufacturers are building stuff in Latin America, at least it's in the same hemisphere. Also, note that, based on your link, Ford has 2 out of the 23 assembly plants in foreign countries. I suspect the opposite is true of Toyota.
I just bought an 04' F-350, and was installing my Fisher mm plow frame on,, when under the truck I noticed stamped on the bottom of the front leaf springs, it said "Made in Mexico" in big letters, plus I see the wiring harness's say the same thing,,,Geeeee'sss I hope some one in the USA built part of it,,I will look for the build plant soon !
I stand corrected. It looks like, a least half of f-250's/350's I looked at, were made in Kentucky.
Ford's going to mexico for truck assembly can only be about the bottom line. I hope the UAW can prevent the inevitable increase of the heavy duty line in that country. I'm sure Mr. Cavanaugh and the other execs. would like to build them all there.
Also, I do make a distinction between Canandian manufactured trucks and those south of the border.
1. the canadians actually purchase GM and ford products.
2. I'll bet they don't work for $8 an hour and are probably under the same UAW contract.
3. the candians aren't exactly swarming over the border, using our entitlement and medical facilities. Heck, we're trying to buy their medicines.
4. My series II 1959 land rover came from Canada....and that makes it a special place.
