Before i start i would like to say that truck is a stickshift with 5 gears, 4 regular and 1 overdrive.
I was pulling my drunk brother out of the mud one night in my 94 F-350 4x4 when i jerked the truck and something went poW! Well i didnt think nothing of it at first, but when i went to get out of the mudhole myself half way through my front wheels stopped pulling! Well i backed up and started again and then it ingaged. Well i cleaned it up the next day and then told a freind of mine when i engage into 4 wheel and let off the clutch tell me if the drive shaft in the front is spinning, well it was but when i hit the slightest bump or it gets in a strain it will not spin but when i rev the truck or give it a little gas a poppin noise from the tire will come and then the tire will magically start pulling again. I have automatic 4 wheel and limited slip. I was wondering
Did i mess up anything in the driveshaft? Or did my hub go out . when i got out underneath the truck when i was changin my oil i turn the axle both ways. When i turned it the right hub was catching but the left one didnt spin at all. This was with 4 wheel drive NOT engaged. No matter how i turned it the left one would not spin. Do you think if i put lockable hubs on my truck both tires in the front will pull and spin right? A freind told me if the popping noise comes from underneath your seat, then you are pretty much screwed, but if it comes from the tire then it means your hub went out or you need to replace them.
So what could it be? replace hubs or 4 wheel is toast?
THANK GOD! I think that is the problem right there. I hate that limit4d slip junk. I want all 4 tires to spin on the dang thing, I have lockable hub on my old F-250 (remember saem year model as my current truck) all i gotta do i sfigure out HOW to replace the automatic hubs with the lockable hubs, i just gotta take them off the old truck and put them on the new truck. THank god for that thing. All the spare parts i need. TRUST ME its come in handy and saved me and my family from spending a few Benjamin Franklins on it.
just replaced Hubs on 95 bronco, so i imagine it'd be similar on yours. i took out the AutoLock Junk and put in MileMarkers. pretty easy job BUT, you'd best have yourself a Dental Pick to get the first snap ring off -- it was a BEAR!! also need two diff tools for Bearing Nut. ONe to take the Orig Off, then a new one to work w/ the Conversion Kit (new bearing nuts). search bronco forum under 'hubs' and you'll get step by step instructs.
