Anyone out there recently changed their np208 fluid? Service manual calls for Dexron II, but you can’t find that nowadays. What’s a good substitute for this? I’ve seen some conflicting info online, so I wanted to be sure what the best option is. Thanks!
What is the replacement for Dexron II ATF now days?
I want to say there is only 1 type of ATF now days but I have not bought any in a long time.

If you read the side of the bottle, most will have cross overs on the bottle and they will list the Dexron brands. Dexron VI was the latest the last few years and it's a semi-synthetic and is downward compatible with all the older Dexrons. I think Walmart used to sell it.
I had to go to 3 (THREE!) different places to find good old fashioned green glycol coolant... everybody is running their own program these days... GM needs red, Mopar needs gold, Newer Fords probably have some special whiz-bangery involved there too... which l should probably know because my wife has a new-ish Exploder.
Franklin is spot on. I had to add recently and found some that clearly stated on the bottle that DextronVI was compatible with all prior dextrons. It was a yellow bottle so im guessing it was Pennzoil (?).

DO NOT USE DEXRON VI IN A DEXRON III OR DEXRON II in a transfer case
You WILL destroy it if not just cause leaks!!!!
What fluid is the OPs transmission? If you have a dex/merc fluid in an automatic, use the same one. if you have a gear oil in a manual (or whatever) then use Dexron III which replaced Dexron II in the early 90s was directly compatible with Dexron II, but Dexron VI being fully synthetic and having very very different foam characteristics is not ideal in a chain transfer case especially that old(seals compatibility issue) This is the only fluid on this planet that is "Dexron III" sold new. Its not called dexron 3 because GM replaced dexron III for all uses except Power steering and tcase/manual transmissions with dexron vi.
