High compression 410 pistons
I need help putting together the engine so it is efficient and reliable. This is going in my '66 highboy that is a daily driver and occasionally pulls 20k pounds. The engine will never rev above 5000 RPM.
First questions is about compression ratio. How high can/should I run? Any reason not to shoot for 15:1 or 16:1? I am planning on head studs and MLS head gaskets and getting the heads and block decked. Is that enough to make the head gaskets last?
How do I get the compression ratio that high? Custom pistons? Can it be done with pistons alone or do I need to find a set of small chamber 352 heads?
Next question is cam selection. I am currently running a mild "RV" cam and am happy with it. Any reason to change? Again, just looking for stump pulling torque and efficiency. Will be running a CJ cast iron intake and stock cast iron heads with CJ valves.
