I'm new to this forum, but have been following them for a while. I've gotten lots of great info and help just from searching topics, but I have a question on upgrading my alternator. In the last three years I,ve put three NAPA alternators on and it's time to do better. I found this web page
with 135 amp, 160amp and 200 amp alternators and am wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them. My Bronco is 1988 Eddie Bauer, bought new, 302 V-8, soon to add JBA ceramic coated headers, Gibson exhaust, K&N and alpine CD/MP3 player with decent speakers.
I think I'd research why the alternators are going out so often. It sounds to me like you might have some sort of electrical problem. I have an '88 also and I've only replaced the alternator once about 3 years ago, and that was with one from Auto Zone.
Most reman alternaters are cheaply built and are prone to failier. You might check into having it rebuilt by a shop. Or you could buy a 3G 130a.
rebuild shops may have some rebuilt and on the shelf, the shop I worked at does.
