That's true. He got lost and crossed Pine Mountain. Not the worst crossing in my area, but definitely in the top 10. Luckily, my dad was still working at the time in that county (yes, Bob was in the wrong county), and he called me about the time Dad got off work. I called my dad and told him to find a guy in a red F-2. He said "Are you serious?" So my dad ended up escorting Bob to my place.

Hey Nick, congratulations. Yep, having a new kid to look after and still being able to go hunting is about the best excuse for not making it to the campground this fall. Those are top priorities. There is always next year. I'm going to miss hearing your 429 engine rumbling up the Hyner View mountain!

Shane you're going to yawn a lot driving the mountains around the park, heck you could probably make and eat a sandwich which while navigating them. The mountain roads are nothing like the ones in your area. In PA their mountains are just as high and steep but they have dirt on the side of their roads so if you have problem you can pull over and take car of it, they have more options than crashing into the side of the mountain on one side or a 200 foot drop on the other side.

I'm still checking to see if we can make it. Now with the rebuilt engine I should be able to make it and down the mountain roads a lot better. Although Wisconsin is a relatively flat we do have some fairly high and steep hills, I think I found most of them a couple of weeks ago. The truck climbed without a problem and coming down the engine provided good braking power. Before with the worn out engine I didn't have the power to easily go up and no compression to work against going down.

The engine ran great I was even to pass a few vehicles, of course one was a farm tractor on a flat road and the other two were Amish carriages , One was going down a pretty steep long hill.

Not too bad. Comparable to driving to Cumberland falls. Some of the roads are gravel, but not steep enough to kick rocks.

Actually the worst "hill" I had to conquer on the drive in PA was to the muffler shop. There was a hill that was about a block long but was at a very deep angle. To get up a hill I had to have a flat surface to get a running start, that hill was up from the beginning, I think I top it out at about 2-3 mph. I think now I can climb it a lot easier. The truck doesn't seem to go any faster, still about 50 mph tops, but I could tell it could accelerate better and go up hill a lot easier.

Do you mean at Morry Richner's place with a junk yard of Ford truck, cars and tractors around his property
Not to mention some nice Ford's in his shed.

A sad note here. Grant Miller, the owner of the beautiful "garage: and the perfect vintage cars inside not to mention his Winchester collection, died last month. I am not sure what will happen to his collection. I am assuming they will go to his sons or they will sell them as part of his estate. It is said his one son will take over his Central PA Auto Auction. His other two sons own the used car dealership we stopped at in Mill Hall last year and the year before.

Grant's sons' Dealership.

Yep, that's the place. His mother's angel has been riding with us in the cab. It's taken care of us since our trip.

Two months to Truckstock, guys. It's not too late to make plans to attend. Who's coming? Headcount? The wife and I are in, so there's 2.
PS, she's hoping other wives/women will be there, too.

I’ve got a lot going on right now, but looking forward to a few days away from everything. I’m still planning to come and to bunk with Abe again.I had Bessie out several times in the past week, she’s running pretty good, so I’ll drive her out. The high RPM stumbling is back, maybe an ignition issue to troubleshoot.

I'm looking forward to coming. My wife is having some health issues though. Hopefully she will be recovered enough to feel comfortable fending for herself while I'm away.

I'm in of course. My wife is not a camper. She enjoys taking the video when we drive by our house.

Dianne and I will be there. Probably without the truck. Haven’t had a chance to work on it.

Still not sure if we're going to make it or not. My wife doesn't want to take off of work than absolutely needed so I see if we do come we'd have to drive long days and I'm not in the mood to do that this time. The F-2 needs brakes and front bearings, something I really want to do the mountains. Brake work isn't a problem, getting my wife to take off the necessary days off is.
