I am trying to replace my drive shaft seal. I ordered a new one, National 7495S which it showed as fitting my 1963 Econoline, I triple checked that I bought one that said it was compatible. Well, it doesn't. It is very much too small (see pics).
Do I not have the original transmission? Here is a number off the side:
Does anyone know what drive shaft seal I should get that will actually fit? Thanks in advance.
And here is one more pic of numbers on the thing that bolts onto the back of the transmission that the drive shaft connects to. Hopefully this helps to figure out what seal I need:
Took some measurements off the seal that is currently in there (without removing it just yet), and based on those measurements, this item from Autozone might be the right part?
I actually bought it from Oreilly for $2 cheaper, but on Oreilly's site, the exact same part number shows as NOT compatible with the 1963 Econoline, where Autozone says it is. So, I guess we'll see if it works.
I am happy to report that the seal I bought from Oreilly Auto parts fit like a glove and appears to be doing it's job. It was fun trying to get the old seal out of there!
