Kevin at Clegg hooked me up. He knew everything about these motors. Most importantly there are 2 different rod style bearings depending on the year and different camshaft styles. I have it documented in the pic of the email attached, so look closely! You need to look at the stampings on the rods and what hole configuration there is on the bearing. You also need to know if your camshaft is cross drilled or not. There is a wide and narrow rod bearing which is not evident when you are shopping online. If you want me to send you the complete email thread of the exchange I had with Kevin at Clegg PM me your email and I will forward it. It will save you some time.
I had to have mine bored .60 over and had to have custom rings made. I needed new rods, pistons, cam and all the bearings along with lifters and pushrods. My machine shop happened to have piston rods and my crank had to be machined .20 under. The parts from Clegg I ordered were $350 but only the ones listed in the email.
All the other parts were extra and I also needed a timing chain and gear, gasket kit and other parts.
I originally bought rings for either standard or .20 over which I still have as well as standard bearings and a Felpro gasket kit which I ended up not using. They are Very hard to find so if you need anything let me know and I would be happy to pass them on. I am going to return them but once I do that they will be lost in the ether. My mechanic said his parts guy could only find one set of the parts I have available in the country at the time. That certainly could have changed.
