No More extended cabs? Only Standard or 4 door. Disappointed in ford
Looking over options on eng and limited on which eng in which model sad
Towing? Dont see the 5 th wheel tow package
the extended cab is available in the xl and xlt. Ford is probably making the decision based on sales. They probably dont see the point of it in higher trims since there are limited number of people buying them. i havent seen a half ton truck have factory prep package regardless of make.
I went back and double checked and dont see on the ford build site a option to build a XLT with extended cap just standard cab.
Were are you seeing the extended cap for XLT ??? Thanks
I was doodling around on the builder yesterday and looked at building an XL Scab and SCrew. The starting difference was about $2000, so at that point, I went on to pricing a SCrew 6.5” bed, since the bed is the bigger need for me. In any event, I’m surprised they still make SCabs as they seem to be pricing them to extinction.
As for a 5th wheel package, not happening. The HDPP models might be able to swing a 5er based on payload, but that defeats the purpose of the Super Duties as far as Ford is concerned.
Yes, no more Supercab for Lariat and above. It makes perfect sense, these are family cars anyways and the higher trim packages come with lower capabilities.

Makes sense for the F150's, wouldn't want to see that happen for the Super Duty though.
Well, that certainly is disappointing. That is exactly what I need, a super cab with 6 1/2 foot bed. That’s what my past five trucks have been. Making a change to a super crew cab would not be bad but I would not be happy with a short 5 1/2 foot bed and would not go to a super crew with a 6 1/2 foot bed. Not sure how easy I could conform to that which might mean taking a look at the Chevy truck lineup. That’ll be tough to do being a Ford man for generations as the Ford dealership is my cousin locally. He does also on a GMC dealership so that is always an option also. Chevy truck lineup. But it always seems as usual the certain whatever I like is always yanked out.

Perhaps I'm biased because I've always driven longer trucks...but honestly that 6-8" difference in length isn't really noticeable when driving an SCab versus an SCrew. It's also that much more INTERIOR (lockable and somewhat safer) storage, AND you don't have to open the front door to access the back seat. I always found that annoying on my extended cab trucks.
Not to mention, if you have passengers back there, they get a LOT more leg and seat room with the crew cab, meaning they're more comfortable.
I'm honestly not surprised that the extended cabs are being phased out - I'll bet you see Ram and GM do the same soon. And honestly they already sort of have started - Ram's extended cab doesn't even exist any more, they have a crew cab and the Mega Cab, and GM has their 'double door' and a crew cab, the difference in length of those from looking at them appears to be about 4 inches.
As for a fifth wheel prep package - no automaker has one for a half ton, and no automaker has EVER had one for a half ton that I can remember. That said I wouldn't really want to pull most 'half ton towable' fifth wheels with most half tons anyway...they've still got quite a bit of pin weight.

looking back, I’m not really not surprised that they are dropping that. My cousin owns the Ford dealership here and often times when I will look through his vehicles specifically his F1 50s there have been less than less super cabs on the lot over the years and more and more of the crew cab. I’ll learn to deal with the 5 1/2 bed as I grew used to the 6 1/2 foot bed as I left the 8 foot models. Vehicle companies have to do what’s best for them so I’ll live with it. Luckily, I just bought my current truck last year, so I’ll be with it for a few years as I’m not a high mileage guy
