I had a brake light out on my 65 Custom Cab Slick side, removed the bezel and lens to access the bulb, and sat everything down on the bumper, bezel, lens, screws, Snap-On screwdriver. Ended up finding a wire pulled out of the turn signal switch connector, fixed that, and put the bulb in to confirm. Meanwhile, I had a customer show up with their car on a tow truck, a co-worker needing a ride to the hospital, the boss asking me about something, and dinner on the stove at home. When I got back to work this morning and walked behind the truck I saw my screwdriver sitting on the bumper but no tail lens or bezel in sight.
I borrowed a lens from a bump side that will be here for a few days, long enough for me to get an aftermarket lens delivered, but I don't want a repop bezel if I can help it. Does anyone have an OE driver's side tail light bezel they could part with? A pair of oe lenses and bezels would be awesome but I understand availability.
I wish I could help; I feel your pain. I just changed some oil this afternoon that only had 200 miles on it, I needed to change the oil in the other truck. I never bothered to check my records. Just wanted you to know that you are not the only idiot on the block! At least I have very clean oil!
And about 4 months ago, on my front bumper, I left a 3/4" drive Snap-On ratchet from the '50s that I inherited from my dad. He used it on his '32 roadster hotrod back in college. I lost it somewhere on the road and kick myself every time I reach into that drawer. Sorry I can only commiserate and can't help.
Dan: I don't know how nice you need them, but I have a pair that are a little rough....plus typical oxidation. The driver's side, I started tapping out some of the dents with a trim hammer, but it still needs some work and sanding. After that, polishing or re-anodizing. The passenger side is much better with only a little sanding mark. I decided to buy new ones ultimately. The reason that I mention the passenger side is that, I would bet, you could swap them, flip the passenger side bezel and use it on the driver's side and nobody could tell. They are almost perfectly symmetrical and very hard to tell apart. The last couple photos are the passenger side bezel. If you want them, you can have them for the $10-15 it would cost to mail them.
Eric.

Eric, I'll take them. They look about the same as I lost I suppose. Haven't got that far back yet. (I started at the grill and am on the fenders) Let me know how to pay you and we'll get er done. Thank you.

....I'm pretty sure Dan wants oem, even if used condition. At least that's the impression I got. In any case, Dan, just PM me your address and I'll try to get them out today. I'll let you know what the postage is when I mail....shouldn't be much.

I have to ask, What on that truck did you feel the need for 3/4" drive? I coul see it on the bolts between the radius arms and I beams. But not many other places. Unless of course you just like the feel of a quality tool. Was it the teardrop shape? Never seen a 3/4 in that style.

Good question - Well, for starters, I'm an idiot twice, and it was 1/2" drive - basic brain fart. NTL, I did tend to use more than needed because it did feel and operate well. Kinda to your point, it also had a very specific job: With the big block stuffed into the truck, the #8 spark plug is right adjacent to the steering column. It takes the perfect length combination of socket, extension and wrench to get in there and turn it. In fact, I need to place the socket on first, and then sneak the wrench/extension combo onto the socket. Then I just get a half turn and need to remove the wrench. Then spin it out by hand. Installation in the reverse order. As it turns out, that ratchet, plus a short 1/2-3/8 adapter, plus the socket, was the perfect length combination. The bit of heft and rigidity also help get it broken loose because I'm standing on the bumper leaned way into the thing during the whole process.
Bet you're sorry you asked.
Just snapped a pic of his taller brother, the wrench at the bottom of the pic. Since it's your post, might as well enhance the hi-jack.
I changed oil in wife's Taurus. Drained it and installed new filter. I let it down and processed to fill 5.5 QTS. Of motor oil in the transmission. I guess at 74 yes. I should stop doing thing that I think help...

Sorry to say but I think you win! LOL
Was there a drain plug or did you have to drop the pan?

When I was still young I was changing the oil on a customer's car. Pulled the plug, changed the filter, lowered the car, and poured 5 quarts straight through to the ground. Forgot to put the drain plug back in. Ya'll wouldn't believe how big of a puddle 5 quarts of fresh 10/w/40 makes. They called me Exxon Valdez for a while after that.
