In fact, I need to place the socket on first, and then sneak the wrench/extension combo onto the socket. Then I just get a half turn and need to remove the wrench. Then spin it out by hand. Installation in the reverse order. As it turns out, that ratchet, plus a short 1/2-3/8 adapter, plus the socket, was the perfect length combination. The bit of heft and rigidity also help get it broken loose because I'm standing on the bumper leaned way into the thing during the whole process.
