Rear spring swap

Let me start by saying I have a 2017 F250 FX4 with the 2 plus overload spring and want to upgrade to the 4 plus one springs. I found a pair of low mileage 2020 Tremor springs on marketplace and grabbed them but don’t want to have the rear of my truck any higher because it is already pretty high. I read that the 2020s have a smaller block to lower the rear a bit but according to Carli the Tremor carried over the 2017-2019 rear springs to keep the height.

Basically has anybody with the lighter spring setup changed to heavier and not has the rear of their truck get higher and if so how did you keep the height down?

Why are you changing the leaf springs? I installed airbags to maintain ride height when pulling a gooseneck trailer.

2017-2019 F-350 didn't sit any higher in the rear than an F-250, even though it has more springs. The same goes for 2020+ F-350 and 250. What I'm getting at is, if the Tremor rear pack is exactly the same as a non Tremor 350, it shouldn't sit any higher than your 250.

The Tremor carried over the 17-19 rear block.

I am trying to make this as easy as possible so my wife doesn’t have to mess with anything other than hooking up and going. I was using airbags on my F150 but this time around I am trying to simplify things and I hit the F350 Tremor springs as takeoffs at 500 miles for $100 bucks. Can’t even touch an add a leaf for that price right now much less an airbag kit.

Yep the block and spring packs did remain the same. I get what you are saying and I guess I am just over thinking because I really only want to install the springs once because they are heavier than hell.

So after sleeping on it, the new spring pack is about 4 inches and my current spring pack is around 2 inches so height will be gained there. I guess I will keep looking for a solution.

But what are you trying to do, eliminate sag? If so what are you hooking up to? Could it be that StableLoads might help? 🤔

If you swap rear springs, get a new leaf spring bolt for the fuel tank side since it either needs to be cut or you will need to drop the fuel tank to remove the bolt.

F-350's do not sit two inches higher than an F-250. They do not sit any higher. The top overload adds nothing since it doesn't engage until it hits the pads on the frame. Did they include those frame pads?

You could take before measurements at the truck, install the new springs, drive around to settle them a bit and if it sits inches higher swap to a 2" block. Swapping to a smaller block won't require you to wrestle with the heavy springs again.

I understand that. I have to do stuff like that with my wife as well. If I don’t use the KISS rule I will get a lot of phone calls from my wife asking to give instructions again over the phone.

As stated above if the rear is too high than you want install a shorter block. Same as the “reverse level” some guys have done.

Yep trying to eliminate sag. Since my truck is leveled it seems like it says even with my wdh on. I am near the point of removing my leveling kit because use of the truck seems to be taking priority over looks. I must be getting older to day that because I have always tried to have both.

Just install the springs you bought with a shorter spring block.

Right now my bumps too to axle heights are the same as what Carli says a stock F350 has but I don’t know if the mean with the 2 main and one overload leaf like I have or with the 4 leaf and one bottom over load.

I bought the the bottom half of a low mile F350 spring pack and let him keep the brackets and top overload because he is working on the ride of his Tremor and I will never pull anything heavy enough to require them. For the pair it was $100 so I figured it wasn’t a horrible deal.

I have this currently.

Bottom 4 plus overload to work with.

she is great about hooking up and towing the camper but adding to that would be 1,000 questions though.
