Right but my concern is that in 6 months when full blown recession hits value will be 50k or something. Then we are talking a difference of owing $16k vs $40k
then keep the current truck thru this recession? Or buy a lightly used truck with the long bed because if this recession hits like you’re planning that’ll be real cheap.
I get where you’re coming from but I wouldn’t rush to sell a truck only to place an order on something you don’t know when it’ll be delivered. Especially when we’re talking a Super Duty at that. Fords been pitiful and I’d be even more afraid of a brand new model’s quality during a parts shortage.
worst case is you have a low mileage super duty still. You clearly aren’t driving much to begin with averaging 4k miles per year?

I think you wait and trade in once/ if your truck comes in
27k means you aren’t going to out on more then 5k if it takes 9 months and still great low miles. If your value tanks so will new trucks. Plus if we are in a full blown recession then you have a paid off truck with 30k miles on it.
I confirmed this with my dealer that they are in fact not even offering heated steering wheel/ messaging seats ect if you order a 23-f150 today.
I don't know what I would do if I were you but depends on what’s important to you in a truck
Yea I’m waiting to hear back when they get the specs to see what’s on different trims. My truck now pretty much has everything they offered at the time. So message seats, panoramic, 360 camera etc. Heads up display is appealing. BMW had it and I liked it.

they probably will let you order whatever you want on oct 27th. It’s what they will let you build on Jan 3rd.

It’s almost got 28k miles. I go from 60mi SE of DFW to Nebraska 3x a year to hunt. Rest of the miles are to cattle auction 30 miles away, and to lake 35 miles away. It’s not my grocery getter by any means but if I’m driving it 90% of the time I’m pulling a trailer. I work from home for my main job.
I place a order 1/31/22 with a refundable deposit using a credit card with the option of backing out if at the time of delivery (6 months later) my trade in value wasn’t what I wanted.
My trade in value stayed the same, and did the deal. Best deal ever!

Yea it’s a no brainer to place an order especially when you can back out of it and just let the dealer sell the truck on their lot.
inthink OPs question more revolves around the trading in aspect. If he gets rid of his truck today, when will he see the new truck? And no one can answer that given all the **** ford has put buyers through with orders.
and as someone said, they will possibly let you order anything imaginable but what you actually get and when you get it are two different things.
I have a loaded southern, 1 owner, accident free, 2019 F250 Diesel 4wd platinum ultimate with 29k miles and lots of hard to get options (now), Listed it here for $75,750 and haven't gotten a single inquiry.
So, it's a good thing I don't mind keeping it

I suspect your issue is exposure. Seems most folks here that would see your listing already own trucks or have pending orders. Just a guess, especially since you listed it with OBO. Seems you'd have some tire kickers low balling you otherwise.
I sold a 2019 King Ranch when I ordered my 2022 in August of 2021. The dealer let me run the truck through them as a trade in to avoid paying the full sales tax on my 2022. They charged me $300.00 to do that. (Good deal). However, It took over 11 months to get my 2022 Platinum. I would guess that your 2023 will take 6-months to a year. I would keep that in mind. If you can borrow one, I would say, sell it and run it through the dealer. Get top dollar while you can.
So I’m basically ordering same truck but a long bed this go around. I have a flat bed and other vehicles as well.
My understanding is orders start 10/27, production in January and arrival who knows? I assume y’all had a long wait previously? I think the chip shortage is over for time being.
I ordered my truck August 31, 2021. It’s a F350 lariat ultimate 6.7 long box crew cab. It is just now supposed to be built the week of October 31 if that gives you any idea how long it can take to get a new truck. good luck with your decision.
So I have a 2017 ccsc 6.7 platinum with 27k mi. I can get around $74k for it now. Ordering 2023 in a couple weeks. Should I sell now or wait until the new one comes and trade? It’s been paid off for around a year now. My main concern is obviously the used market tanking when 2023 arrives.
I mainly use truck for hunting trips and pulling cattle trailers to auction a couple times a month.
Curious if you've had an offer or dealer offer you this much, or you are going off what KBB says. KBB and what you'll get from private party or dealer are two different things....
