frame rail component ID
2005 E150 highly optioned---inside the driver rear frame rail near spare tire there is a 4x6 cast aluminum component with with black plastic cover and 5-wire connector--what is it?? also on the front of spare tire cross member there is a longish black plastic component mounted--what is it?? and just in front of rear bumper there is an L-bracket pointing down on the bottom of each frame rail--what are they for?? None of that stuff is on my 1997 E150. Confounded, Bill

Only wires? If there are hoses, it might be the fuel vapor recovery canister. Can you post pictures?

Brackets might be part of a hitch.

Is this a standard van or camper or mobility conversion? LNG fuel?

There’s no mechanical fuel pressure regulator. Rail pressure is set by a rail pressure sensor and the pump controller. There’s no return line from the rail to the tank.
