I’m getting ready to order the dorman split exhaust manifolds from rockauto to go on my 69 f100 and was wondering if someone could tell me what y pipe and muffler I need to run a single exhaust not duels.
Thanks
You’ll probably have to have them fabricated by a muffler shop. The Walker Y pipe that was used apparently is no longer available. I may be wrong.
usually when you get your dual manifolds from the junkyard youre advised to get the pipe connections with them to make fabbing your Y pipe easier.
I don't know how much RockAuto gets for those, but you might find them at a better price at a local salvage yard. I bought a set locally last summer, also picked up the factory down pipes, $130 for the lot. Salvage yards will cut the pipes in front of the cat converters, just behind the cross-over link (which has a threaded hole for an air-fuel sensor). Those pipes will save you a lot of grief when doing your exhaust system, and I believe are much higher quality than any aftermarket set you can buy. I extended those pipes over the crossmember, into a y pipe, came out of the y at 2 1/2" into a commercial muffler, then 2 1/2" to a turndown in front of the back axle. All with parts store stuff, the entire system was under $500 bucks. Good Luck with your project!
I think Oreillys still has them pretend you have an 84+ F150.
Steve you are off on the year.
EFI on the 300 six did not come out till 87 so that would be the first year for the split EXH manifolds.
When I did this to my 81 to find the Y pipe I had to look up a cat as the 2 came together and the only way I could get the pipe.
Last summer I replaced the 81 pipes & muffler with a 94 system less cat. I went with a welded muffler.
Other than moding the hanger for the tail pipe it was a bolt in.
I can now go to any parts store and order the exhaust system for a 94 F150 long bed pick up and bolt it into my 81 F100 truck.

You like loud or quieter exhaust?
I would go with a a single 3" exhaust to a high flow cat and into flow master super 44 dumped right behind the passenger wheel, keeps the rumble but not loud where you can't have a conversation.
I’m wanting it quite and I was planing on going with 2.5 into to stock muffler and 2.5 coming out and dump it right in front of rear axle, that’s how it is now but with 2”.
94 with welded Thrush muffler on the right old 81 on left.
The 94 is larger IIRC 2.25" factory, 81 think was 2".
It is not loud but I think has a nice rumble to it but being a six it will never sound like a v8.
What is nice with the 94 is I can get it at any parts store as it is factory.
