split exhaust

Hey, I have split exhaust manifolds off a fuel injected 300 that I want to put on my carbed engine. I was able to get the manifolds and little bit of the two exhaust pipes that hook up to them, but I want to run a single pipe most of the way. Hopefully connect it to the already existing exhaust pipe to save a little money. Anyone have an idea on how to do this while spending the least amount of money possible. Is there some kind of Y-pipe I can get and weld up to them, or is it possible to fabricate a decent Y-pipe? Would a muffler shop be able to do this for me for no more than $50?

IMHO, your best bet would be to go to a muffler shop and have them fab up a Y pipe for you, or order the walker split manifold down pipe. Both of these options are gonna cost more than $50, butif you want to spend less than $50, the old manifold looks real nice!

I just ordered the Walker downpipe for my '88. Total cost was $62 delivered from www.advanceautoparts.com . Probably the easiet way to go, and I doubt a shop could make you one for any less $$$. Just run a search for "45166" at Advance Auto, and it'll bring it up.

what does this walker downpipe look like? Does it go down to just one pipe? I looked it up at advanceautoparts.com but there wasn't a picture for it. I might go that route. I will have to ask at a muffler shop to see how much it would cost to fabricate one.

I've never seen the Walker pipe, but from what I've heard from those who have bought one, its just 2 pipes that come together into one 2.5" pipe.

That is exactly what I need. My current system is a 2.5' set up, so I need to be able and hook up to it. You just ordered it right? When are you expecting to get your order in? Could you post back here when you get it and let me know if that is what it is for sure?

Sure, I'll post something when mine gets here. It should show up Monday.
