1995 A/C Compressor
So I’ve been planning on getting the A/C to work in my 1995 F-150, I recently did a radiator support swap and there was nothing in the system at all, I had tried to get the compressor to work but it never engaged, is there a safety shutoff for it if there is nothing in the system? If I do have to end up replacing it is there a way to hotwire one of them to check if the clutch engages?

Yes there is: A/C Clutch Cycling Pressure Switch.

As was already stated, there is a low pressure switch preventing the clutch from energizing. That is the switch that you can momentarily jump to see if the clutch works. R-134a also has a high pressure switch, by the compressor, that will cause the clutch to turn off if the pressure is too high.
