I was hoping for some advice or past experience. My 2004 6.0 EX started having a very soft brake pedal one night.
Took it in for brakes. They replaced front rotors calipers and pads. Picked it up and same issue
Brought it back
they replaced master cylinder rear rotors calipers and pads.
Better but not right yet
They replaced the hydra boost unit next. It’s better but still get pedal fade
No leaks and they claim to have bled the system more than a dozen times
Anyone experience this before?
Ideas?
Any help is appreciated
I just replaced all the same parts on my X mainly because I wanted things new while they were still avail from Ford. I actually bled the master cylinder through the entire brake system, instead of a bench bleed. I have a system of being able to bleed myself, but because of the amount of air I introduced to the entire system, I had my neighbor help, and the did the old school pump it up, open the bleeder, close the bleeder, and pump again. I bled a little more than 2 quarts of fluid through the entire system in the bleed order per the shop manual. Right Rear, Left Rear, Right Front, Left Front. I have a firm pedal with no issues, and that was prior to my bleeding the ABS module VIA FORScan for safe measure. In the recent past I have replaced all 4 flex hoses to the calipers, you may have in internal flex hose collapsing and causing your issue, or the brakes haven't been bled enough.
A couple of weeks ago I replaced all 5 flex hoses with the help of an old friend that just happens to be a Ford mechanic. We followed a similar procedure and the pedal feels fine.
