You might as well leave the windows down and save yourself the trouble of having to repair the truck, and I am being serious. Forget cameras and cute little security alarms. They're just going to take what they want. So you have a camera, and it shows a video of a bravo mike wearing a covid mask and a hoodie? Great. WTH am I going to do with that? It's a waste of my time to even fill out a report.

Leave nothing in view. Nothing. Ever.

If you own a pistol, carry it. NEVER leave a pistol in a car, EVER. ALWAYS carry it. I am adamantly against stupid "truck holsters" and bs lockboxes. Besides, you will NEVER have the time to get to that weapon on the day you need it unless it's on you. In a past life I have drawn my sidearm multiple times while seated in a vehicle and not once would I have been able to, or able to in a time expedient fashion, produce it if it were anywhere but on my person. And if you're going somewhere that doesnt allow you to carry, DONT GO THERE.

And if you're going somewhere that you think you need a rifle, you either dont need to go there, or you need to be CARRYING the rifle, and if you're going to do that, don a plate carrier too because you're going somewhere I dont want to be.

When I travel to craphole cities for my regular job today, I will even flip up the back seats so the scum can see it's not worth it. Truck looks totally empty. Bear in mind, these people will break a window to steal a pair of flip flops. Their give a crud is broken.

Computer bags, organizers, backpacks, etc, etc, are just birthday wrapping paper for the scum. I know a couple that just got their SUV broken into at a restaurant in the middle of the day in my states most woke crime ridden city, and the scum broke every single side window on the SUV rather than open the doors just to be expedient and not have doors in their way or fiddle with locks and leave prints i guess. Robbed them blind and got two guns, ON VIDEO, and local LEO couldn't do anything but scribble out a pending report number and roll to the next call.

The VAST VAST VAST amount of portable electronics for sale on the secondary market (pawn, craigslist, marketplace, etc), as well as guns, are stolen from vehicles.

Anywhere and everywhere, when you abandon and walk away from your property, just assume that the property is there for the picking.
I agree with you on every aspect. It was a mistake on my part to assume that nothing would happen. I know a camera system won't help in any capacity to catch who did it, or to help the LEO find the person. It's only for my own piece of mind, so take that for what its worth.

i don’t see how a High-Def footage of someone with a face mask smashing your window and take your possessions and then drive away in a car that is a dead end lead would in any way help your mental health. I mean, heck, if you get over an upsetting event by watching the footage, that’s your process I guess.
I dont have out of state plates. Sure, I wont take anything I see in footage as confirmation. Its been a string of things this past year with my truck that a camera system would help with, not just potential theft.

December 2021 - First break in that was almost identical to this one
March 2022 - enclosed trailer stolen with all of my motorcycle racing equipment/supplies in it. This job was a pro job and from what i've been able to fact find since it was planned for some time.
May 2022 - side swiped by a Lexus SUV on a city street - Damaged front bumper and passenger side front fender.
June 2022 - rear ended on hwy in a construction zone - Damaged tailgate and rear bumper
October 2022 - This break in

I've had to do alot of extra work with the insurance agencies because of these incidents that video would have been able to take care of.

Before you all chastise me, I am late to the party, but I have now and will continue to put trackers on everything.

Just wondering, did you access the bag in your truck prior to or during filling the tank? If yes, it may have not been a "hope there is something there" on part of the scumbag thief. They often hang around gas stations watching and waiting for someone to drop their guard.

I'd buy a pitbull and put a GoPro on his neck and lock him in the truck.

Sorry for the previous lecture. I hate that situation for you.

Or zip a rattlesnake up in a nice leather bag.

Seriously, though... The communities that are like this (there are more everyday) are this way on a voluntary basis. We don't have to live this way. We choose to. Or at least choose to allow it. We need to get to a point where enough people identify this problem as critical, then it can be solved relatively simply. It will be interesting to see if we get there.

I have had my 2017 F250 since Sept 2020 and it has been broken into three times already. I've replaced the driver's door handle (now there is no lock) and the driver's front and rear door glass. The last time they broke into it, they disconnected the horn wires (didn't cut them) and then just poked a hole through the driver's door glass to get to the doorknob to get in. The only time anything was stolen was the last time and they took my broken dash cam. I guess they thought it had caught them disconnecting the horn. With what the insurance paid me, I was able to fix all three break-ins and bank over $1000 in the process. It's a shame that you can't use the 360 camera system to your advantage to protect your vehicle. That would be the best system and have it fed to the cloud. Hopefully Ford will find a way to utilize the cameras to do this.

I feel your pain and wish you the best on getting anything back. First question from the police dispatcher was "Did you have a firearm in the vehicle?" I told her no, I don't leave it in there unless I'm at work (I park in a secure parking garage with cameras).

One word that will help your issues disappear immediately. MOVE.

Calif, among other places, are too far gone and overrun by feral animals that do not and will not get the proper punishment so this stuff will continue to get worse.

this would never and has never happened in my upper Midwest area. It’s filled with good, hard working folks that have a pretty good head on their shoulders and take pride in their community.

I just randomly stumbled on this video. In the comments he says something about having 3 angles, I only see 1 in this video. Maybe you could get some info on what he was using. (Also curious if this is a forum member.)

Do we look out of place among a sea of Teslas and EVs? Sure. But it’s not like cops are pulling over cars that look out of place anymore.

The entire Bay Area has to be written off at this point since a certain political party has enabled criminals with the likes of Prop 47 and installing soft on crime DAs in the 9 Bay Area counties, and scattered low income housing as far away as Anthioch, Brentwood, and Livermore.

Election has consequences and the few Americans remaining in the Bay Area are vastly outnumbered and outvoted.

we have a medium term plan to move to a dark dark red state in the next few years. This area is beyond salvage for people who just want to live a normal life. And all the newly minted “citizens” will always vote for more handouts and accept worsening conditions because it’s “not as bad as where they came from”.

Bingo.
Also why the borders remain open.
Regardless of human trafficking and drugs.

New citizen / voting plan coming.... stay tuned.

100% power play.
San Antonio: Same. Wouldnt park my truck there for 5 minutes.

Also, Dear blue state people coming to red states (because your beautiful blue state now sucks to live in). Once in a Red state, Please stop voting for the same policies, party that turned your beautiful states into $hi! Holes. Dont be like a parasite...moving from host to host.

Wake up America, before its gone.

Anyone have experience with the Jimmi Jammer kit?
Good or Bad?

It's crazy easy to get into the drivers side door of F-Series trucks. You need to remove the cylinder lock tumbler off these trucks.

Seems like this kit would provide some deterrence?

There have been a few threads that have discussed installation of Jimmy Jammers. They are effective in preventing a thief from easily unlocking the driver's door, but they don't stop the thief from easily breaking the window as in the case of the OP.

With Jimmy Jammers, you need to provide a means to get power to the battery without opening the hood in case the battery is too dead to operate the door locks.
