I have started the process to replace the STC fitting. However, I am still a little thrown off that I find nowhere anything about the STC except either cold starts or no start at all. Generally all the things about hard hot starts tend to point to the standpipes and such. I have long cranking unless I start it two seconds after I shut it off. Previous to replacing the standpipes and plugs I typically only had long cold starts, and even then only if I let the truck sit for several days. It was obviously getting worse as time went on since it started only after sitting for a week, then after a couple of days, then after a few hours and now every time it isn't running. Hot or cold. I have my turbo Half way out so I am committing to fixing the STC fitting. I think at this point is would it be safe to say my pump sounds like it is OK? I have done a lot of the preventative stuff previously when I did my EGR delete and Oil cooler replacement. I replaced the screen with the upgraded style that is supposed to help prevent failures. The screen that was in it was OK. All of that stuff was done about 50,000 miles or so ago. I did the heads about 40,000 miles when the egr delete only slowed down the coolant loss. And then Injectors about 10,000 miles ago. I guess I just really love taking this thing apart. Im getting pretty good at it. HA! I am very tempted to just replace the HPOP while I have it all apart so I don't have to go back in there a while, but I don't know if I really need to or not.
And then what if this doesn't fix the issue? What should I be looking at while in there to make sure I am covering all of my bases?
I would be more tempted to pull the standpipes to check them since it is a bit easier. That said, you have to get the d-rings on properly when you change them out, as well as lubricate them well before re-installing. I would recommend a bit heavier lube than just oil on the installation.

I think I have eliminated the standpipes. I did just replace them as well. I have the heads off, I did the air test and the only sound I can hear sounds like it is deeper in the engine. I do not detect any leakage near where the standpipes are, nor the dummy plugs. As I said earlier, when I turn the IPR on with my scan tool, I do not hear a leak of any sort from anywhere. I am not well versed on this stuff so I am learning as we go on this. I did use a stethoscope to listen to everything I can reach really well. I even put it on the HPOP cover in several places hoping I would hear it get louder but I didn't really notice any difference. I do know from using it around the oil rails that there is nothing detectable in that area at all.
