Hi all, so I have my exhaust temp probe located on my down pipe next to my turbo. I understand that the best location is on one of the manifolds. What if any are the differences in temp between the 2 locations? Obviously the manifold would be hotter, but by how much? Is there really much of a difference?
Just moved/tapped the manifold to install the probe a couple weekends ago. Took it out on a drive for the first time and what a difference in heat. I drove the truck up and over a 1/4 mile steep climb and the egts shot up quicker and good thing I have overdrive. After putting in overdrive my egts dropped and boost kicked in. That's on a hot tune. Anyone who has a probe on the downpipe should move it immediately. I procrastinated for a while. 300 degrees is definitely the difference. Or a little more.
