Pretty sure my thermostat went and maybe my water pump. It was running cool last time I drove it. Now it's leaking a little around the hose to water pump connection. Haven't had the time to investigate too much.
If I do have to replace the thermostat, what else should I tackle?
If I have to replace the water pump, what else?
I've seen better oil pumps, straight up timing chains, and drive pulleys replaced while you're there.
If it just is thermostat, I would only change upper hose. But if you're set on pump, Flowkooler or whatever brand you want. If you've never done the timing set, you might as well do it. It's only a few more bolts. Might as well do lower hose and bypass hose also. Note if you're distributor is seized, and you got to straight up timing set, you'll need to unstick it to adjusting for timing. I cracked mine open couple years ago and it had the factory phenolic timing gear.
