Then I'll insult the forum when no one knowledgeable stumbles across it in the wrong section and tell the members I'm going to a forum dedicated to that specific engine platform....

Well now that the guru has stumbled across my pathetic post perhaps you can tell me how to isolate the faulty injector.
Or is that beyond your expertise?

If it's an internal injector issue then you won't be able to narrow it down, other than a BUZZ test or CCT. So if you've done those and you still aren't anywhere then there's nothing left to try.
This is probably why everyone is saying it's time for a rebuilt set. After shimming twice and you still have issues (somewhere) with a high miles set, your least concern is narrowing down a specific injector.
If I tried to flow test those even I wouldn't be able to narrow down only one with an issue, at this point.
Time for a rebuilt set. It's just the unfortunate reality.

The 2 best 7.3 injector builders that do this daily for a living told you what needs to be done. They didn't even drop a subliminal message to buy thru them to try and up their sales.

Tho if you insist on chasing individual injectors, follow the flow chart in the stickies at the top of this subforum. Unplug individual injectors, do the Cody test, buzz test, CCT, compression test, leak down tests, then replace the injectors anyway.

Or park it and bash us some more and go to PSN and let them bash you to no end like they are famous for 🤷🏻‍♂️

In other words, you have no idea how to isolate a faulty injector.

Alright you bunch of meatheads, I thought I would update....
I was barking up the wrong tree....
It was my turbo. Siezed up the next morning climbing a mountain pass.
I went ahead and drove to the top like a ******* and it ended up blowing my head gasket.. Or at least I think it did...
So I have tore it down. Tons of oil in coolant...no overheat.
I suspect that the exhaust wasnt making out of the engine and caused to much crankcase pressure. It was blowing out of the cap like a freight train.
Tons of blue smoke from exhaust.
So far it has been fun. took me about 2.5 hrs to tear the heads off. Good to see the cylinder walls. After 500k+ miles they are nice and hold water. So the rings seem tight.
Going to go to oreillys this AM and get the cheapest parts possible to slap on and feel torque the heads down...(cringe)
Got a turbo rebuild kit from amazon...$45. Same one I got 3 years ago and it got me this far...about 150k miles or so
Should get me at least another 100k
Thanks for the help guys.
I will update how my shade tree job goes...first time turning a wrench.
Maybe some beginners luck!

The other day I went to the Oreillys to buy one windshield wiper.
Only the driver side was giving me problems.
I have a friend that works there. He was like "do you want both?" I said nah, I just want to replace the broke one.
The manager is an older dude around 60. He says, "You should get them both.."
Me and my buddy ribbed him for a minute about fixing **** that aint broke.

this was about 2 weeks ago.

First rain hit a couple days ago. I turned on the wipers and the passenger side peeled right off.
Thankfully I had at least one good wiper.

Thanks for pointing me to the sticky, but next time have a better attitude bub!

Those heads are heavy.
I had to use a hoist to get them out of the engine bay. You guys should have warned me.
You have to take the blower motor and the heater core out to get the passenger head out. I was able to free all of the bolts but the ones in the back are too long to remove with the HVAC box in the way. And putting them back would be impossible.
I Stripped the head of one bolt on the passenger manifold using a 12 pt socket..doh! It was second cylinder back and access it from the wheel well. I cut the head off and that bitch still wouldn't come free. And that is when it hit me that I should have pulled them with the manifold attached. I created myself more work than necessary. So I pulled the 2 bolts at the up pipe and ...
Those heads and valves are caked with soot. I plan to clean them up and reseat the valves with compound and a drill.

Wish me luck meatheads!

Haven't had a bunch of time to put in ole Bessie. But I have made progress.
the back bolts by the manifold are an absolute bitch to get back in place. **** ford engineers for that.
By the way, my uncle was CFO of Ford for many years. He's a dick.

My biggest problem is the freakin roller bearings on the rocker arms.
Apparently removal and installation require a special tool, but god gave me hands so I went for it.
I got 14 of them in and out with no problems. I dropped 4 of the bearing *****. I don't know where tf they went. I am tempted to pull the heads and lifters and junk again so I can snoop around in there. Trying to even figure out if it matters.
So I said **** it and ripped the OE out and ordered roller rockers. ..Damn them things are expensive. I also didn't distinguish the exhaust and intake rockers when I installed them. They looked the same, turns out they are different part numbers.

The turbo shaft was bent. The bearing was reamed and sloppy AF. I suspect the marvel mystery oil did me in. Grandadddy and Uncle Booger (first ford dealer in Florida) swore by the ****. First time I run it through the 7.3 all hell broke loose so..no mystery to me.

On a side note, I once bought BOGO stp fuel cleaner and put one each in my ram 1500 and ram 2500. Both fuel pumps failed that same tank.

Anyhow, Ordered a new turbo but I am sending it back and going to rebuild the OE with billet parts.

When I am finished I will be ready to go title for title on tug of war.

Catch you southpaw meatheads later
