Different camshafts with the 2017+ 6.2L. 25lb-ft of torque alone isnt anything to fuss about, but the camshaft update changed the torque curve considerably and there is a noticeable drivability difference between the two versions of 6.2L.
the intake manifold was also changed. Variable runner length was added. For the f250 the change to the 6r100 made a noticeable difference in the feeling of power. The 6r100 was a better match according to ford.

1st gen vs 2nd gen 6.2L both coupled with 6R140, the 2nd gen is a much better and noticeable low end performer. The 6R100 is for sure an upgrade over the 6R140. The 10R140 is even better. Ive driven every combination.
I wish my two 2022 F350 6.2L trucks I ordered got built, but at the very least I'm happy with the 2022 F250 6.2L I did get so far.

i havent gotten a chance to drive one with a 10r140 yet but i have mostly heard good things about it. i feel like it would be a lot of fun with my 4.88s
The 6.2L/10R140 with 3.73 pulled my 16k load considerably better than my 6.2L/6R140 with 4.30. I really do hope Ford builds the two 6.2L F350s I have on order, but its getting late in the season so not much hope.
I was really impressed with my 6.2 last week. We were towing the trailer (7400#) up Homestake pass east of Butte on I-90 and i had the cruise control set at 65 in tow haul mode. Normally I turn off the cruise control and manually progress up steeper grades but this time I let the truck do what it wanted. It shifted down into 3rd and then into 2nd and the truck accelerated right back to 65 and the RPM were about 5,000. As the hill got steeper the truck was maintaining 65 but the RPM started to climb, at 5500 I turned off the cruise control and slowed to about 60 maintaining 4800-5000 RPM's. The motor was screaming but no harm at all. I think lugging an engine damages it worse that high RPM's...within reason (less than redline). Anyways I averaged about 9.5 MPG on the 2000-mile trip and had a great time.
RIP I don't think so ours has been Resting Peacefully all summer in our back building with the battery disconnected next to our 16K trailer but shortly it will be awakened dusted off and made ready for it's fall and winter travels .
