6R100 Shift Issue
The issue I’m having is that after the truck has sat for a day or two, it struggles to shift into drive. Basically, it will shift into drive but after coasting for a short distance (no brake and maybe just a touch of gas) the truck slams to a skidding stop with the rear tires locked up. When I give it a touch of gas it won’t move. I can shift into reverse and back up fine, but then have the same issue when trying to move forward in drive.
After a few tries, I can finally get it to go and not slam to a binding stop, and after that, it shifts and drives flawlessly. I don’t tow heavy (haul pontoon boat a few times a year). Any thoughts? Curious if anyone has experienced a similar issue. I’ll be dropping it off at the dealer this weekend.
Never heard of this, but the parking brake pads had delaminated and broke loose. When the truck would move forward they would jam in the shoes and lock up both rear tires. Felt as if I was slamming it into park while moving. Could back up fine as they would free up. Rock forward and back a few times and they break free, and it was good to go for a bit. Just had to replace the shoes and pads and all is good.
