Hi all. Ran into a dead battery on my '97 F-150 this week. Tried to jump it but wouldn't crank, battery was totally cooked.
Tossed in a new one and she fired right up. But while driving right now I noticed the battery gauge was showing zero after startup. Also believe the oil gauge is a bit low, but will double check when I get home. That gauge at least seems to correct after a few mins of driving.
Any idea whats up with the battery gauge? Everything else on the dash works properly.

Does this by chance have its own fuse that I might have blown when jumping? Checking the boxes as soon as I get home as well, looks like #20/21 in the power distribution fuses, or #2 in the instrument panel fuses. Both of those I'd imagine would cause me more issues than just the battery gauge though.
Edit: #2 in instrument panel is good. Can't pull #20/21 by hand, will have to wait..
It gets better! After pulling the #2 fuse and reseating, it seems as though the battery gauge is fine. But now the oil pressure gauge is at the very max. Wondering how these two are related..
edit: back to how it was. But now very rarely I will get a quick spike in the gauge while driving. Something must be loose! Anyone ever run into issues like this? I replaced the speedo gear a few months ago and everything looked and hooked up well when I put it back together..
@Jon Freeman thanks for the video but I don't have the digital part of the cluster, so don't think the diagnostic can be done. That said, I went out today and checked again and everything seems to be back to normal. Might've just needed the night off
