I bought a set of headers in about 1991, I believe they were headman’s, the left side you were supposed to cut the flange in the center and they would split into two separate pieces so you didn’t have to remove a motor mount to install that side. Anyone know where I might find them? I wonder if they are still being made. Anyone know?
Anything built after 73-74 will be an emissions motor. Unless the internals have been upgraded the externals won't make much difference. Remember 5hp air filters, bolt on horsepower, all that snake oil they were pushing. True power comes from throttle response under load. If it were mine, I would go back to stock manifold and a better exhaust.
Well shoot, didn't even think about cutting the falnge. I got some for a 390 about a year ago, and they weren't hard to find.thougj I could only find the raw/ uncoated ones. Had to unbolt the c6, and motor mounts then jack up everything up against the body as high as I could. If I didn't have a body lift, woulda never worked. I will dig up some old emails to see where I got em and report back. Not looking forward to the day I have to change my starter
Not sure what model you had, but these are what I got from summit. Can't say anything bad about em other than install

they are in stock, along with a few other headmans models

thats exactly why I was trying to find those same headers, I just do not want to mess with the motor mounts and starter.
Headers don't help 360 much but some folks just like having them along with dual exhaust because of the way it sounds and looks.
Nothing wrong with that.
I want to find some block huggers for mine rather than the long tube style.

it has a mild cam and an aluminum 4 barrel intake from a 428 pi so they help quite a bit.

Ran headers after a new cam and intake install years ago. They rusted out in three years, hung really low, and increased cab noise. Replaced them with stock manifolds and noticed no power drop. Just proved to me that headers are worthless on a truck unless you are pushing big horsepower. Stick with your manifolds with 2.5" pipes and good performance mufflers (or no mufflers). Trust me, you will appreciate everything about them more than headers.
