I have a 2011 F250, 103,000, miles and my brakes are not holding on any type of incline. I first noticed it backing a boat on a boat ramp. Major pucker factor. it eventually stopped, but it kept on slowly rolling and it finally stopped. My driveway has a slight incline to it and it does the same. Brake fluid level is fine and brake pads are only a couple of years old. Any ideas? TIA
So yesterday I noticed that on an incline if it is in neutral my brakes will stop the truck. If it is in reverse or drive downhill it doesn't stop. So if it is on an incline and in gear they will not hold. The emergency brake doesn't stop it either like it should if in gear. The pedal feels normal, it is not dropping much if at all.
On my way to work this morning I pulled over on the downhill side of a bridge and it seemed to hold ok. I then drove into a steep driveway and put it in park and then reverse and it doesn't hold very well. It seems like it only happens when I creep down the incline with the weight of the truck and the force of it being in gear.
I appreciate everyone's feedback. I have an appt to get it looked at, but just wanted to see if anyone know's what it could be in order to help with the diagnosis.

Really need a bit more info but I'd lean toward your brake booster or the vacuum pump. It's a diesel, so it doesn't create vacuum on its own.
If I recall this issue is usually coupled with the 4x4 not working and/or the defrosters malfunctioning.
While I agree with you, it might be nice if you presented more info than just 'That won't work.' Kinda comes across as a jerk...
I rarely throw out silver bullet ideas without the OP supplying additional information (ie- what tests/diags that were done). Who would it help if I say “replace the master cylinder” if that’s not the underlying issue?
