2000 Ford Excursion driver side rear brake caliper
I have attempted to upgrade my brakes to the power stop z26. I bought their powder coated calipers. When installing, I noticed the calipers had the same part number. If installed, the bleeder would be on the bottom.
I have seen a few YouTube videos and this particular caliper was on the rear. I called the local auto store and they told me that it could be build date specific. My build date is 10/99. Can someone confirm if this is actually the case and the previous owner did not accidentally put a bracket in the wrong way? The calipers bleeder was on the bottom when we removed it so I don’t know if the bracket is the issue or he was not aware the bleeders needed to be on the top and installed anyway.
The very early build date EXs did indeed have different rear caliper orientation vs the later build wagons, so yes, your proper caliper replacement will be build date specific.
Yes that is correct, the early build Ex’s used a different driver side caliper which was changed later in production. Tom is right on point ———as usual
