Strane idle problem.

1996 Mazda B2300 ~78K miles.

When the engine is at working temp and I come to a stop (red light or stop sign) the idle will settle at 1500RPM. Then, after about 3-5 seconds it will drop to normal idle of around 800-900RPM.

This will not happen if I try to rev the engine. It will always drop back to normal RPM.

I took the IAC out and cleaned it with carburator cleaner but there's no chage. BTW, it was vewry hard to clean it. Is there something better than carb cleaner ? How do I clean the throttle body ? It's quite dirty.

Can someone also tell me how to pull a stuck vaccume line out. I tried to take the throttle body out but there is a vaccum line under it that wouldn't come out.

Thanks,
zoti

You can find spray cleaners in auto parts stores especially made for use on Air Intakes & TBs.

You might want to read through this thread: Cleaning Your Throttle Body

I have used penetrating oil on many occasions to help me loosen up hoses that were stuck like that.

My 93 Ranger would idle very strangely with no load: It would go very high, then very low, then very high, and very low.

I cleaned my IAC several times and it barely fixed it. I finally gave in and bought a new one ($40) and my troubles went away.
