Something Wrong with Donor Roof???

Please take a look at the pictures below...is the inward sweep from rear to front on the donor roof normal or an optical illusion? The roof that's on the truck now by comparison, appears to have no such curvature, but could be an optical illusion also based on the angle of the photo. Feeling something is not right and that I may have carneyed...myself!!! I may have picked something up which is completely unusable... From the inside, there doesn't appear to be any damage, dents, weld stitching or wrinkles that would lead me to believe that the donor roof has be modified in some way. Could it still be original but just an example of body work made to fit at 4:55pm in the Tiajuana Ford Plant (my attempt at a joke...)? If I can find out that it's not something I should use by 10am tomorrow, I can put it out for bulk pickup...

Looks like the drip rail is rolled over on the the donor's driver side. I agree something does not look right. I would get someone to help you and take about a 100 measurements between the new roof and the old one.

Thanks, Lrrr. I straightened up the drip rails on both sides just now, and it still looks like something is off. Measurements of crowned or curved sheet metal are always hard to get right...I wish I had one of those curvature profile things used for bodywork...that would tell me any differences...

I bet someone used a strap through the door openings to lift the cab from the chassis and rolled it in. Seen it done, but not hard to correct, if it is still welded to the rest of the cab but a partial piece like you have may make it harder.

CStoyer,

I think you've come up with the only logical explanation! The illness definitely matches the symptoms. As the pieces I wanted to trim off/correct on my roof are exactly these areas...looks like I have a hunk of scrap metal on my hands...

Thanks everyone.
