Hi everyone, 2000 E350 XL Super Duty, 5.4L, 355K mi. It's time for new shocks (this would be the 3rd set as far as I know). We tow a 5x8 trailer with luggage, some sound gear and some instruments.
Looking for recommendations for shocks, I know we need something that can help with the trailer, but a smoother ride would help out a lot.
I use nothing but Blistein along with Hellwig sway bars, both devices intended for use in short wheelbase motor homes. My E-350 extended body work van with raised roof weighs in at 8,400# as a daily driver.
Big fan of Motorcraft shocks if the vehicle is stock
With 355k and you pulling a trailer, you might need better
So follow JWAs advice and go HD, with some added expense, (worth it to you IMO)

Not being offensive but this bit where some seek "comfortable" shocks is comical---in my case it simply has to be something intended to control the cargo and/or sprung weight as I'm running so close to the maximum GVW already.
I will admit to "accidently" installing the Bilstein short wheel base motor home shocks on what became a mostly bare stock 2003 E-250 extended body and wow were they ever stiff in that application--near bone jarring I'd say.
Had I not spoken to a Bilstein rep describing my desire to have something more than stock valving I'd never have known about the motor home shock valving----they're great to help select something outside a "normal" use.
