Thanks for every ones help. I am going to replace my shocks on my 2003 Excursion. Any suggestions on brand, model, etc? I do pull a travel trailer but other than that it is just normal usage.

2wd or 4wd?
The Bilstein B6 4600 shocks I installed awhile ago are nice, but they have gone up quite a bit.
I run the Monroe gas units on my 4wd F350 and like them. You can get them at your local parts store and they have a life time warranty...which I have utilized a couple years ago as the originals were installed somewhere around 2004! The only thing I don't like about them is they are yellow, so I spray them with gray bedliner material prior to installation which does not affect the warranty btw...

Thanks again!
which shock you will like is subjective but in general a mono tube ( bilstein) shock is more durable than a twin tube ( rancho )
the larger the tire you run the more valving you are going to want.
for stock-ish size tires the KYB Mono Max is hard to beat. Oversize tires the Bilstein 5100 is popular
As other members have stated a lot about selecting shocks is the feel/ride you're after. Here's a chart we put together comparing monotube shocks to twin-tube shocks.

From opinions on here, several years back I bought the KYB MonoMax's and I can't stand the ride.
They turned my 2003 V10 4WD into a rattle box.I hate driving the truck and I'm tired of apologizing to passengers, so I don't drive it too often. I've only put a couple thousand miles on them hoping they would loosen up, but nope, still hate them.
I want the smooth factory ride, I don't off-road. Stock height and wheel size.
I did KYB Gas-Adjust thought about monomax but i wanted to try and maintain a smooth ride these seemed better for that. the old ones were old and shot can defiantly tell there are new ones
